Kathiani Member of Parliament Robert Mbui issued the ultimatum claiming the police in the area have totally failed to effectively deliver on their mandate of providing security to the locals.

Mbui who was speaking at a burial in Nzaikoni where a nightguard was murdered in cold blood said the police don't respond when given information about criminals thus creating room for insecurity to thrive.

"We have given you one week to remove the idle policemen from Nzaikoni and take them somewhere else and bring us, people, who are ready to work," said the MP.

He warned that if the police are not transferred, he will lead the residents in kicking them out of their offices.

"The public has been providing the police with information about criminals but the police have not done anything yet murder cases are reported every now and then," lamented the vocal MP.

He noted that despite the increased crime, no suspect has been apprehended in connection with the crimes.

Professionals from the region are also expected to hold peaceful demonstrations to push for the transfer of the police in Nzaikoni police post.
