Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi has urged Jubilee politicians to stop the on going prayer meetings for Deputy President William Ruto and journalist Joshua Arap Sang.
Mudavadi said politicians' utterances in these prayer meetings can cause animosity among Kenyans.
This, Mudavadi said, pauses a threat to national security.
Speaking on Saturday at a press conference in Eldoret, Mudavadi said purported prayers rallies were not used for prayer purposes but just to point fingers on the people said to have fixed the Deputy President and Sang.
The meetings, Mudavadi added, can polarise the country as Kenyans close in on another Presidential election.
"If these politicians were really sincere that they are praying for the Deputy President and Sang, they could have done that without negative utterances which are seen in their meetings," he aid.
"There main aim is to gain political myliage and as a campaign platform come 2017 general elections. The president should stop such rallies with immediate effect since they are putting the country in an election mood."
He reiterated that prayer meetings should only be conducted in mosques and churches by religious leaders and not politicians in political rallies, who have their own political ambitions.
"I urge Kenyans to stay harmoniously with each other and ignore politicians whose intention is to bring animosity between tribes thus leading to hatred," he added.
