Hours after ditching ODM for Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC party, it is emerging that Senator Elizabeth Ongoro may not run to become Ruaraka MP under her new party. ODM Director of Elections Junet Mohammed said electoral laws allow IEBC to block the nominated senator from being sponsored by any other party, as she is listed as an ODM aspirant in a list submitted to IEBC.“The law is clear. Once IEBC gazettes the list of aspirants and membership lists, you cannot move unless you want to run as an independent. Not unless you want to tell me she was a member of ANC before Wednesday last week, I don’t see how she will run under ANC,” Junet said, as per The Standard.Senator Ongoro, nominated by ODM, left the party after she was barred from vying in the constituency under the political outfit, after two people died following clashes between her supporters and that of current MP TJ Kajwang. She was also fined Sh1 million by ODM for going to the ODM headquarters with her supporters to protest favors that her opponent was receiving from the party. The senator was given life membership by ANC on Friday.
