However, despite receiving several endorsements from leaders drawn from his Ukambani bedrock, the opposition co-leader risks not realizing the dream.

Musyoka has for some time now been battling allegations of double speak and lack of political commitment , earning him a "Watermelon" tag, which this is likely to make a majority of voters  push him aside in doubt of his leadership ability.

The veteran politician is also facing internal competition in his Ukambani backyard, courtesy of Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, who is also keen on clinching the seat.

This will not only reduce his winning chances,  but will further lower his appearance, portraying him as unable to put his house in order and is, as a result, being fought from within.

His failure to take over the ailing opposition's National Super Alliance (NASA) is another miscalculation, as majority of Kenyans expected his to lead the coalition during its current woes.

Having seized the the opportunity would have convinced the electorate that he will also identify and clinch opportunities that will benefit Kenyans upon ascending to Presidency.

However, with 4 years to the polls, the former Vice President has enough time to turn the situation around and increase his winning chances.
