With just under a month to the August general elections, Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua risks being locked out of the exercise after Wiper Leaders asked Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to block his candidature.
Former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau and Woman Rep aspirant Joyce Kamene Kasimbi accused the county boss of bribing voters as he seeks to retain his post when that time comes.
The team claimed that the governor’s move to issue loans to women as we head to the polls amounts to voter bribery, which they argue is against the laws of this nation.
They alleged that Mutua through his wife Lilian are sponsoring funding programs in which women are given up to Sh3000 when the election date is drawing closer.
“Lilian Ng’ang’a is Governor Mutua’s spouse and we are asking on what capacity is she administering county government funds,” she said, as quoted by Kenyans.co.ke.
Mutua and Ndeti have been launching attack after attack against each other. Ndeti has been faulting Mutua for doing little to improve the lives of the residents. She argues that the governor does not deserve another term in office because she failed to keep her pre-election pledges.
