Speaking on Radio Citizen on Tuesday morning, Mokua observed that the governor might not recover from his August 8, 2017 victory's re-election annulment.

The Court of Appeal on Friday quashed an earlier validation of Mutua's win by the High Court, in favor of the petitioner and his biggest rival in the race Wavinya Ndeti.

According to Mokua, Mutua has very low chances of defending his seat following the court's directive for a new election to be held, saying that the race is likely to be too overcrowded for him and will face opposition from his allies from the government side.

''Chances are that the ruling Jubilee Party will also front a candidate for the post should the ruling stand and Mutua is likely to end up losing some votes to the Jubilee candidate, giving an advantage to Ndeti who is on the opposing side.

Citing Mutua's recent threats to unmask powerful individuals allegedly involved in the National Cereal and Produce Board (NCPB) maize scandal, Mokua said that the Governor is now retaliating against the state in a bid to protect himself.

''His threats are a way of fighting back in a bid to save himself as he is aware that Jubilee will surely front a candidate and that might be the end of his tenure. The plan is to fight the government for mileage,'' he added.
