Musyoka argues that Mutua should take over from Kalonzo who has been  the Kamba leader  and spokesperson over the years.

Speaking in Machakos town on Wednesday, Musyoka claimed that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka is a let down to the community hence should relinquish his position as the community spokesperson.

He said Kalonzo has failed the region by associating with opposition leaders who don’t value development.

Musyoka said Ukambani has not benefited for the time it has been supporting opposition politics.

“As a region we need leaders who will bargain and represent us on national platform and Governor Alfred Mutua is the person,” Musyoka said.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap lawmaker noted that Ukambani region has lagged behind because of selfish politics perpetuated by senior politicians including Kalonzo.

He said the region must chart its way-forward and focus on featuring in national politics in 2022.

Musyoka said residents are tired of poverty, adding that elected leaders must unite and fight for the interests of the community at the national level.

There have been claims that Governor Mutua is poised to take over from Kalonzo owing to his political rise in the recent years.

Mutua, who has declared interest in the 2022 presidential seat has vowed to ascend to power through his Maendeleo Chap Chap party.

Mutua has several times asked Kalonzo to drop his bid and instead back him in 2022.

Kalonzo’s political star has been falling after losing in 2013 and 2017 general election as Raila Odinga's  deputy presidential candidate.

The Wiper leader has been under criticism recently after he skipped Raila’s inauguration as the people’s president on January 30.

Kalonzo, however, says that his 2022 bid is unstoppable with the party set to convene next month to chart-way forward and also decide on its future in NASA.
