As millions of Kenyans go to the polls across the country, Nairobians were at it from early in the morning, denying themselves sleep to go practice their democratic right.
The city dwellers were at polling stations from as early as 1am.
According to the voters, their aim was to complete the task early in the morning before going on with their daily chores.
Angela Aluoch, a voter at Kilimani Primary School polling station said she did not want to gamble with voting in the day as congestion would mean she queues for long or misses out altogether.
"Coming later in the day is risky especially for an important election as this. We promised to take Baba to State House by 8am and so I avoided sleep to be here," she said.
Elsewhere at the City Primary School, the queues were longer from 3am as voters killed their last sleep on the queue.
"Kenya has never had an election like this. I am here mainly to vote for a better life. I want to be the first one when IEBC officially opens the exercise," said Godfrey Kinzili.
Key in Nairobi will be the race between Governor Evans Kidero of ODM and senator Mike Sonko of Jubilee.
