Nakuru town has been earmarked for elevation into a city, a move that has caused excitement among residents.

Is there a story unfolding in your community? Let Hivisasa know

However, the promotion is likely to take long, probably years!

Here are the five reasons why Nakuru should be hastily promoted into a city;

1. Size and geographical placement

Nakuru is the fourth largest town after Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu with over a million inhibitors (including children, foreigners and non-registered nationals).

Its placement between the two cities of Kisumu and Nairobi also makes it a link between the two and an alternative solution for rural to urban movers.

As a result, it has grown to an extent that most of its inhibitors are finding it hard to believe that it is yet to be declared a city.

2. Ever awake

Nakuru is a 24 hour economy. The town, just like the three cities, it never goes to sleep, with residents coming out to enjoy her nightlife while others proceed with their operations even after dusk.

3. Tourism hub

With the Lake Nakuru National Park to the south and the Menengai Crater on the north, Nakuru is a major tourism hub in the country with hordes foreign and local tourists visiting every year.

This means that the town is very important to the nation and should not be a city soonest possible.

4. Cosmopolitan

Nakuru is house to almost each and every community. Ranging from all the Kenyan ethnic communities to Europeans, Chinese, Indians and other African countries.

For this reason, Nakuru is no longer a village but a big city just awaiting declaration.

5. Agricultural hub

The town is among the few in the country with their own food supply. Surrounded by large agricultural lands and farming communities, Nakuru is one of the cheapest towns to live in.
