It was a town with renowned politicians who fed the country's political agenda.

The first and second presidents, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Moi, maintained semi-official residences in the town.

This put Nakuru on the radar of the media as delegations snaked their way to Kabarak as well as Nakuru State House.

But long gone are the days when Nakuru dominated headlines or when politicians used to hang around Nakuru State House.

Also gone are convoys that used to line up at petrol stations en route to ex-President Moi's Kabarak home.

These days, Nakuru State House is quiet.

During Nakuru's heydays, you could have checked to town a broke guy but get back home a few thousands rich after meeting Mzee Moi in town where he would leave cash for wafuasi wa Kanu.
