Following the recent fire incident in Turi, Molo constituency that left more than 38 families spending nights in the cold, residents may now have to look for alternative means to fight fire break outs since the entire county relies on just two firefighting engines.

More conspicuous was the latest incident early last week where a tragic road accident along the Maai Mahiu-Naivasha Road near the Indian Catholic Church, resulted in explosion and fire.

The scene of the accident is a just a stone's throw-away from the neighbouring Kiambu County borders.

However, firefighters had to beat tens of kilometers from Nakuru to put out the raging fires that had started to devour the vegetation around.

This is a clear indication that the county needs to invest more firefighting equipment maybe the same amount as political levels and the number of politicians eyeing various seats across the county.

This would instill confidence among the locals regarding emergency and disaster preparedness.

In addition, anyone who would push hard for this agenda and ensure those in charge walk the talk might get a tremendous mileage in campaigning for their respective seat that they might be eyeing.

For the prospective leaders, constituents can now gauge your ability to lead not by the ability to read but through tangible development projects they can trace under your regime.

As the political flames burn brighter, residents need to be assured of their safety by curbing the recent fire break outs and responding promptly to those that occur.
