[Photo: nation.co.ke]So, NASA wants the National Assembly recalled to debate the IEBC audit report which it says unearthed massive irregularities that must be addressed before polls? It is almost certain that their demands will fall on deaf ears and if they are lucky to be heard, recalling parliament will have no or little impact on their fresh demands.NASA co-principal Musalia Mudavadi on Thursday said Kenyans cannot go to the August 8 General Election before MPs scrutinise the voter list audit report by KPMG.But hasn't this been NASA's song since 2016 when they sought to have former Iebc commissioners ejected from office? 'Oh, we cannot go to the general election before... blah...blah!' Much has been done since then to assure a free and fair election but fresh demands keep on arising from Nasa which has seen their Jubilee competitors brand them as 'cry babies'.On Friday (today) a case where they have challenged the printing of ballot papers by Dubai-based Al Ghurair firm is expected to be determined but even before this materialises, another fresh demand is on the table.“Since the issue of a clean register is of great public importance, urgent and exceptional, it will determine whether the upcoming election will be free, fair and credible.NASA calls for a recall special sitting of Parliament to discuss the KPMG audit report and other violations in the conduct of elections by the IEBC,” Mudavadi said in a press statement on Thursday. However, with a Jubilee speaker and a Jubilee majority National Assembly, this fresh demand may not yield anything. It seems like an exercise in futility considering that MPs in the 11th parliament may no longer have the enthusiasm to debate anything with a sizeable number glaring at electoral defeats in their constituencies.Perhaps Nasa should still seek refuge in the courts as usual, once the ballot printing case is determined. 11th Parliament is a done deal and we even have a new 12th Parliament MP in the name of Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa.
