Opposition unity National Super Alliance Presidential flag bearer for the coming general elections Raila Odinga has revealed the reason behind alliance's decision to hold its first joint campaign rally in Nakuru county.
Speaking during the rally held in Nakuru town's Afraha Stadium Sunday and attended by his co-principles Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula, Musalia Mudavadi and Isaac Ruto, Raila revealed that the town is vital in the Kenyan political arena saying that it is the hub of Kenyan politics.
''Nakuru, just like Nairobi is the hub of Kenyan politics and is the determinant of the national political direction,'' said Odinga.
Odinga further said that the region despite having voted largely in favor of the ruling Jubilee Party in the last polls has over time revolved into a cosmopolitan destination hence attractive to any political outfit.
''Nakuru, just like the capital city comprises of all Kenyan tribes and capturing it is like capturing power,'' he said.
The former Premier also maintained that the alliance will this time clinch a remarkable number of elective posts unlike in the last elections where the opposition's performance in the region was not impressive capturing only one parliamentary seat, the Nakuru Town East parliamentary seat courtesy of Samuel Arama who has since decamped to Jubilee.
NASA's decision might have as well been fueled by Jubilee which did a similar thing just before the 2013 polls and went ahead to carry the day.
