Deputy President William Ruto has been accused of fueling rebellion of Jubilee Party among the Maasai Community.

According to Narok North MP Moitalel ole Kenta, the Deputy President's continued interference of local politics and the Mau Forest issue has made the community to shift its allegiance to the opposition coalition NASA.

“The Maasai community in Narok had no problem with President Uhuru Kenyatta until his deputy started meddling,” he said.

The lawmaker further observed that the community was unlikely to support President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid during the forthcoming polls and instead will be backing Opposition leader Raila Odinga for presidency.

“Jubilee should forget Maasai votes because the community has made a decision to join NASA and support presidential candidate Raila Odinga. That is where we believe our interests will be well catered for,” he stated.

Political pundits have argued that the Maasai vote could tilt the outcome of the presidential elections and therefore is crucial for both political divides.
