Nguna argues that ODM’s move to work with Jubilee gives Kalonzo Musyoka the opportunity to be the official opposition leader.

The Wiper MP said that the country cannot run without an opposition party, adding that Raila should declare Kalonzo the opposition leader.

Speaking in Mwingi Town on Friday, Nguna said that the country must have an opposition leader to keep the government in check.

“We are demanding that Wiper be recognised as the opposition party since our brothers in ODM decided to join and work with Jubilee,” he said.

Nguna noted that Raila Odinga’s pledge to work with Jubilee leaves a vacuum in the opposition.

He said that Wiper is legally allowed to take up the opposition role, adding that ODM should come clean on its relationship with Jubilee.

A section of politicians allied to Wiper, ANC and Ford Kenya have been calling for ODM’s eviction from NASA on grounds that the Raila-led party is working with Jubilee.

The politicians have also been demanding that the Orange party relinquishes its parliamentary positions.

Raila signed a truce agreement with Uhuru to push for national unity and reconciliation.

Their meeting continues to draw reactions across the divide.

Raila has been quoted saying that the handshake with Uhuru was painful but necessary for the sake of the country's unity.

President Kenyatta will next week address Parliament and later embark on a countrywide tour alongside Raila Odinga to preach unity and reconciliation.
