Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has insisted that he is the best candidate NASA should front in the next presidential elections.

In an interview with the Star on Sunday, Mudavadi said he is better placed to lead the coalition even though he admitted to not being the most popular.

“The point is being missed: The issue is not who is best or most popular to be the flagbearer of the National Super Alliance, but who is better placed to lead the team to defeat Jubilee. I’m the best to lead that team,” he said.

“I am the real deal for thrashing Jubilee. Despite its obvious nuisance value, Infotrak accidentally reports even Jubilee supporters will vote for me as a NASA candidate. That means I will fill the NASA basket with extra votes outside our current support bases,” he added.

Mudavadi's sentiments came just a day after an Infotrak survey release showed that ODM leader Raila Odinga stood as the best bet to defeat President Kenyatta.

In the poll, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka came second with Mudavadi coming third ahead of fourth-placed Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula
