Political commentator and columnist Philip Nying'uro has claimed that the recently formed National Resistance Movement by Opposition chief Raila Odinga will not last long.
In a detailed opinion editorial published with The Star Newspaper on Thursday, Nying'uro opined that resistance movements demand commitment and dedication, a missing gem in the Opposition outfit.
"I don't think NASA can be an ideological resistance movement. Why? All of us know it’s a mongrel entity of people with different interests. What actually brings the principals together is to get immediate power. That is why it would crumble," he said.
He noted that Raila's movement will fall part should President Uhuru Kenyatta emerge victorious in the Thursday presidential repeat polls.
"Without fear of contradiction, NASA will crumble immediately if Jubilee sails through and Uhuru forms the government. I am not saying that because I am a witchdoctor or a prophet, but we are looking at Kenya's history and the origin of NASA. A resistance movement needs commitment. These times are not the Cold War period. For instance, you have seen things like demonstrations more concentrated in ODM regions and not the others," he remarked.
Nying'uro further pointed out the recent infighting witnessed among NASA lawmakers over leadership positions in Parliament.
