This is after Nairobi senator Johson Sakaja asked police to allow the oath taking to take place as planned. Nairobi county which is under the leadership of governor Mike Sonko announced that Uhuru Park was closed down for some renovation. The park was to be used by NASA as it's swearing-in venue. Nairobi police boss Japhet Koome also on Sunday also announced that Raila-Kalonzo swearing-in venue was a no go zone on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Sunday evening, Sakaja noted that if he was to advice Koome or anyone else, he would tell them to allow the swearing-in to happen. The Jubilee senator however noted that one can only become a president through an election.Sakaja added that even if NASA swears-in Odinga, he will not be the president because he does not have the instruments of power. "There is only one way to become president in Kenya, it is through an election. No matter what anyone does now he cannot be president," said Sakaja."If I was to advice Nairobi commander in Nairobi or anyone else, I would tell them you know let them do their things,it does not make Raila President, a the president is Uhuru Kenyatta, even when they crown him on that day,he does not have the instruments of power, he cannot get them," he added.
ACK Arch-bishop Ole Sapit and Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli have also asked the government to allow the swearing to take place.
