After it emerged that President Uhuru Kenyatta was fronting former Bungoma governor Keneth Lusaka for the Senate speaker position, the opposition did not agree with the choice.
Due to Jubilee numbers, it was obvious that Lusaka was great to be a strong candidate, eventually, Lusaka was elected the Senate speaker.
According to the opposition, Lusaka did not have the qualification to fill the gap and become the second senate speaker.
NASA based their opposition for Lusaka's choice on integrity issues.
Lusaka received 42 votes, while his closest challenger Farah Maalim coming second with 25 votes.
He takes over from Ekwe Ethuro.
