Fresh details have emerged that Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) Leader Raila Amolo Odinga will only campaign as National Super Alliance (NASA) aspirant but the ballot paper will have him as an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Candidate as per the requirements of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), reports Capital.
The new twist of events is likely to bring confusion among some of the voters when that time comes. This implies that the recently launched NASA logo will not appear on the ballot paper on the election date.
According to Registrar of Political Parties, Lucy Ndung’u says parties can form alliances but only one of them will appear on the ballot box.
Meanwhile, leaders of the opposition have started campaigns in different parts of the nation as they seek to unseat President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto from power in the August polls.
The leaders of the alliance have affirmed that they will stick together to the end despite dissatisfaction from Ukambani and Western region after Raila was named the presidential candidate and Wiper leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka his running mate in the forthcoming general polls.
The alliance’s top brass have, however, asked the supporters to back the recently released lineup.
