Education Cabinet secretary Amina Mohammed has finally settled on Professor Isaac Sanga Kosgey as the new Moi University Vice chancellor.
However, the choice seems to elicit mixed reactions since the choice had been a center of controversy in the past few years
Prof Kosgey will be replacing prof Laban Ayiro who has been the acting vice chancellor at the helm of the university for the past two years and whose term expires at close of business on Monday.
Moi University has been running without a substantial vice chancellor a situation attributed to insider politics.
Previous appointment process have been hithitting a snug , a situation that saw former Education CS Dr Fred Matiang'i fail to appoint a substantial VC.
Previous interviews that were conducted in the search for the protracted vc had been married by tribalism in the award of marks on merit.
Prof Ayiro had been awarded substantially low marks than by part of council members while others awarded put his score higher.
He had come second from the two interviews conducted .
Education CS is mandated to select a name out of three presented to him by the university council if the council fails to reach an agreement.
The move to select Prof Kosgey might however bring about tribal animosity from different political players as it was last year when the institution was accused of tribalism.
