The repeat presidential election may not take place on October 17 as has been planned by the IEBC.

Despite opposition NASA demanding that the electoral organ postpones the election, IEBC has remained adamant getting more support from the Jubilee administration who said that they are planning for the mid-October day.

However, NASA's wishes could come to be after a key election kit supply company became the focus of the opposition's plan.

According to Saturday Nation, the company picked to supply IEBC with the Kenya Integrated Elections Management System (KIEMS) kits, Safran Morpho, is developing cold feet after NASA wrote to the French government asking it to investigate the firm with an aim of prosecuting its officials caught up in the bungled election.

“IEBC is in jitters because it has been told by Morpho that it cannot be ready with the technological infrastructure, the kits, by October 17. We, however, suspect that is not the real reason,” said sources quoted by the Saturday Nation.

“The real reason lies in the letter NASA wrote to the French government asking it to investigate the company. We suspect Morpho want a way out and this is their exit strategy,” the paper quotes further.

In the letter dated September 7, NASA accused the French firm of plotting with top IEBC officials to rig the election.
