Kitui governor elect Charity Ngilu could be the next Ukambani political leader following the fall of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, a political analyst has said.
Peter Ngure, a Kiambu based analyst says that Ngilu has the political expirience, bargaining power and stature to replace Kalonzo as the Kamba leader.
Ngure says that Ngilu's win in the hottly contested Kitui governor race means alot to the Kamba nation.
"Ngilu is the only standing leader who has the bargaining powers to become the Kamba political kingpin," Ngure said during the interview on Sunday.
The analyst said that it will be difficult for Kalonzo to revive himself politclly after NASA's loss in the recently concluded general election.
He said that basing on the options in Ukambani, Ngilu stands out authoritatively than other leaders like Machakos governor Alfred Mutua and his Makueni counterpart Kivutha Kibwana.
Ngure said that governor Mutua is a 'toddler' in politics and cannot claim to be Ukambani kingpin.
Kalonzo's political fate hangs in the balance after Raila Odinga's loss to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Political analysts observe that Kalonzo's 2022 presidential bid is also uncertain if he remains in NASA.
Furthermore, Kalonzo's popularity has been dealt a huge blow after his Wiper party failed to clinch seats in Ukambani in the recently concluded general election.
