Former lands Minister Charity Ngilu has continued to experience challenges as she seeks to unseat the incumbent Kitui Governor Julius Malombe.
Through her campaign secretariat spokesman Martin Masai, Ngilu says that she has marshaled all her resources and time to ensure that NASA Presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga and his running mate Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka ascend to power, but the two have not been supportive to her.
This comes after Kalonzo endorsed Malombe to contest for the seat. Malombe floored Senator Musila David during nominations.
“We have been campaigning for NASA to take over the government, but there has been no reciprocity from Raila and Kalonzo. We feel that one of the NASA principals is not comfortable bringing campaigns here in Kitui,” said Masai.
Maasai also defend Ngilu’s move to join Kalonzo during a NASA rally in which the former vice president faced hostility after asking the electorate to vote for Malombe.
Ngilu, has however, remained confident that she will floor Malombe when that time comes.
The aspirant is banking on her past performance scoreboard to win the seat.
She argues that she is the right person to correct mistakes made by the current leadership. Ngilu has pledged to initiate several projects in the region if elected governor.
