Historical injustices on Abagusii community by Simon Nyachae and Chris Obure or their proxies could cost President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election in Gusii land.

Having named the region as tossup, President Kenyatta’s team is keen to deliver over 800,000 votes from Gusii ethnic group despite performing dismally in 2013.

And political analyst Ondigi Abaya says Jubilee principals will meet hostility in the region due to unpopularity of their grounds men.

“The Nyachae family and Mr. Obure have been in public limelight for quite a while. The Gusii people lost trust in them and perhaps that is why it is hard to sell Jubilee using them,” he said in a Tuesday’s interview.

The Kisii University don added:” The community has issues with them and that is why Simon Nyachae lost in 2007. Obure has been subjected to public criticism ever since joining Jubilee. They are unfit to lead and people have made a decision.”

Obure, who ditched ODM for Jubilee recently, has faced hostility in several occasions when campaigning in the region.

On the other hand, Charles Nyachae, son to Simon Nyachae, who is also going for senatorial seat was forced to cut short a speech at Menyinkwa recently due to hostility.

Both Nyachae and Obure are Jubilee presidential campaign leaders in the former Nyanza province.
