Prof Nyong’o was expected to address a special sitting at the Assembly on matters that are of importance to the county including the issue of privatization of sugar millers.

County Assembly Speaker Ann Adul told the MCAs on Friday the Senator was away and could not address the Assembly.

The MCAs who were on recess were recalled for the Friday 9am sitting and also to deliberate on the amendment of the Kisumu Ward Development Fund Act 2015.

Ms Adul said Nyong’o was preparing to go to court to block the privatisation of sugar millers within the region.

“He is attending the Public Accounts Committee meeting on matters touching on the county budgets,“ she said adding that the Senator sent his apology to the MCAs.

Adul said the senator will inform the members when he will be available next to address them.
