The poor turnout in the recently concluded presidential repeat poll is a huge 'victory' for opposition leader Raila Odinga, says political analyst Gideon Mamboleo.
According to records released by IEBC, over 62 percent of Kenya's registered population boycotted the poll in which opposition leader Raila Odinga had withdrawn.
"Those boycotted are very many and this can be loosely translated that they heeded to Odinga's boycott call," says Mamboleo
Even though the narrative seems to be working on NASA's side, Jubilee has maintained that the drop in turnout was insignificant in relation to 7.5 million people who voted for Uhuru Kenyatta.
But in his own assessment, Mamboleo adds that the disastrous figure strengthens Odinga's bid to push for electoral reforms amid the controversial poll outcome.
" He is the actual winner because we interpret that his boycott calls worked and that's why voter turnout reduced from 80 percent in August to 38 percent."
Despite IEBC maintaining that the actual turnout stood at 38 percent, the opposition team claims that it stood at 31 percent.
