ODM leader Raila Odinga’s political career may have been saved to a larger extent by Siaya Senator James Orengo, observes Gideon Mamboleo.
Despite the two having had political differences in the past, for the last decade, they have developed the most inseparable political relationship.
And following nullification of Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory, Orengo entered in rare historical books for having successfully prosecuted a petition in Supreme Court.
“The magnitude of the case was big and for the past years, Orengo has dominated legal field. He is a dedicated servant and works so hard to achieve.
“Should he have not opted to go to court, we would be talking of a third straight defeat for Odinga. He indeed has all reasons to credit Orengo,” he says.
Known for his coherent debates in parliament and passion in fighting for justice, Orengo is one of the oldest second liberation crusaders who brought about pluralism in the country.
When Odinga was appointed Prime Minister in 2008, he rewarded Orengo with a ministerial post and since them; he has been representing ODM party in major legal battles.
