Nominated Member of Parliament Oburu Odinga now wants two Jubilee legislators arrested and prosecuted over incitement to violence remarks.
Oburu, NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s elder brother says Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery should incarcerate Gatundu MP Moses Kuria and his Garissa Township counterpart Aden Duale.
Speaking during a campaign rally in Gem on Tuesday, the ODM MP challenged the Jubilee administration to charge Duale and Kuria before thinking of investigating Raila over hate speech allegations.
The government has threatened to arrest and prosecute Raila for making ‘inflammatory’ remarks touching on land matters at a recent rally in Kajiado County.
Raila is accused of inciting the Maa community against selling land to ‘outsiders’ when he toured the county on Thursday, last week.
But Oburu maintained that Jubilee and the cohorts have no moral authority to threaten the ODM leader with arrest.
"Why should Raila be arrested when those who belong to jail, such as some key Jubilee leaders who brew hate speech, go scot free?" Oburu asked.
He said they will not let the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led administration gag the Opposition by intimidating their leader.
“Even National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale is on record asking his constituents to evict all Kambas' in Garissa but Nkaissery has never taken action against him," Oburu noted.
The legislator further questioned why the government did not investigate and arrest Kuria when he was accused of asking his supporters to attack opponents of the National Youth Service (NYS) projects with pangas in his Gatundu South constituency.
"The law should not be applied selectively to please those in Jubilee,” Oburu added.
