Historian Prof Nyachieo Bogonko says the path taken by opposition leader Raila Odinga is dangerous and could lead to crumbling of President Uhuru Kenyatta's government.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Odinga said he would revert to picketing, civil disorder and would use People's Assembly to chart the way forward.
"Uhuru should now reach to Odinga and strike a consensus in critical issues affecting the nation before things deteriorate," he said.
Although several stakeholders have urged Uhuru to call for national dialogue, the Head of State maintains that he would first wait for his opponents to exhaust all legal mechanisms.
But Bogonko says the next course of action could led to paralysis of business in the country and eventually transform to a civic revolution.
"These is how revolution build up. People will be radicalized and eventually could lead to toppling of Uhuru's government," he said.
Should revolution spring, he says, the country's democratic structures could be severely destabilized for many years to come.
Some of the countries he says the assemblies have worked include Argentina, Spain, Egypt, Tunisia and Burkina Faso.
