Lawyer Danston Omari now says that opposition leader Raila Odinga's move to stand in solidarity with embattled National Resistance Movement (NRM) self-styled General Miguna Miguna is suspicious.

Odinga was on Monday night at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), in a bid to talk the port officials against harassing Miguna over a travelling documents row.

Speaking on Radio Citizen Wednesday, Omari wondered why the National Super Alliance (NASA) leader did not use his newfound friendship with President Uhuru Kenyatta to save the vocal barrister.

He said that the former Prime Minister's futile attempts to rescue Miguna who only recently condemned him for reaching out to the President, referring to him as a traitor who has betrayed his supporters, could have a hidden political motive.

''It is suspicious why Odinga did not call the President from his home to ease the situation at JKIA despite the two being in good terms, choosing to take himself there instead. This could be another political stunt ahead of 2022,'' he said.

''Opting to personally stand up for a person who has since condemned and called him names over his recent peace pact with the President is further suspicious,'' he added.

Odinga's efforts, however, did not yield any fruits as Miguna ended up being detained within the airport.
