The ODM party has given reasons why they made an alteration to their Nairobi candidates lineup for the August polls.

The party replaced their earlier senatorial candidate Gabriel Bukachi with lawyer Edwin Sifuna to step up their fight to secure the seat from Jubilee candidate Johnson Sakaja.

Speaking of the development, ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale said they were forced to make the changes at a meeting where they chose Sifuna because he was stronger and had a more national outlook than Bukachi.

“Yes it is true that ODM has settled on Edwin Sifuna. There was a meeting and we agreed on Sifuna because we needed a stronger candidate to battle with Jubilee party’s Johnson Sakaja and also we needed somebody with a national outlook who can fight in equal measure with Sakaja,” Etale said.

However, Sifuna refused to comment on the matter, arguing that he was not in the position to comment on the matter.

“I am not going to comment on a Facebook post. If you have any query you just refer it to the party,” said Sifuna.
