Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta be interrogated by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).
Led by the chairman John Mbadi, the opposition party wants Kaparo-led team to put to test Uhuru for linking its party leader, Raila Odinga, to the 2007/2008 post-election violence.
“We do not expect President Kenyatta to make such utterances. He should be investigated by the national cohesion team,” said Mbadi as quoted by the Nation.
Mbadi, the Gwasi MP on Thursday said Uhuru’s remarks bordered on incitement.
The legislator was reacting to remarks made by the Head of State on Wednesday during a political rally in Kisii county.
“He (Raila) was at the centre of the violence. He is the one who ignited the flames but framed DP Ruto,” Uhuru told a gathering of leaders at Nyanturago Stadium.
Homa Bay Women Representative Gladys Wanga accused the President of inciting hatred against the former Prime Minister.
“President Uhuru’s remarks are a sign of defeat. He should not use inciting language in his desperation,” said Wanga as quoted by the Nation.
Raila has however denied the accusations saying Uhuru should instead focus on addressing the plight of PEV victims, some of whom are yet to be compensated.
