ODM secretary general and Nominated Senator Agnes Zani is among politicians assured of nomination to the Senate after the August 8 general election.
Zani’s name tops the ODM’s list that has now been uploaded by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on its website, the Nation has reported.This will be the second time Zani will be representing the Raila Odinga-led party in the Senate. Her first nomination was after the 2013 polls.Others on the list include the party’s National Elections Board chairperson Judith Pareno at number two.In the third position is Beatrice Kwamboka followed by Kisumu woman representative Rose Nyamunga.In fifth place is ODM women league chairperson Bethe Syengo, while Hamida Kibwana and ODM director of strategy Rosemary Kariuki are placed eighth and ninth respectively.In the list for nominees to Parliament, the Orange party has former Labour PS Jacqueline Oduol topping the list followed by Knut secretary general Wilson Sossion, while Migori woman representative Denitah Ghatis is at position three.According to nomination rules, priority is given to names that appear at the top of party lists presented to the IEBC.The distribution of the slots is as follows;16 for women, two for youth and two for the disabled. The distribution of the slots for women will, however, depend on how all the political parties perform in the upcoming elections.
