Kajiado governor David Nkedianye has launched a scathing attack on former Interior CS and Kajiado governorship hopeful Joseph Ole Lenku's candidature, claiming that the hotelier is unfit for Kajiado's top seat.
In an interview with Citizen TV on Wednesday, the governor took a swipe on Ole Lenku's tenure as Cabinet Secretary, describing him as "a failure" who cannot be trusted with the leadership of the county.
"Ole Lenku is very famous for failing," he said.
"Any person in Mandera, Nakuru or Mombasa will tell you Lenku failed the country. Many are interested in the Kajiado governor seat because I have done so well," he added.
Ole Lenku is seeking to unseat Nkedianye on a Jubilee Party ticket.
He was sacked by President Uhuru Kenyatta at the height of terror attacks that rocked the country in 2014.
He was succeeded by current Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery.
Nkedianye who is seeking re-election on an ODM Party ticket during the forthcoming general elections exuded confidence of recapturing the seat, saying he has initiated a number of key development projects in Kajiado.
"...and I know more people from the Kikuyu community will vote for me. Where Lenku comes from, I have more votes than he does. Kajiado people know my track record," he said.
