Slightly a day after ditching President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party for ODM, immediate former Kenyan UN Habitat ambassador Sam Ongeri says he was informed by an ‘impeding’ defeat of Jubilee government in August.
Ongeri, a close ally of Kenyatta sent shock across the political divide when he joined Raila Odinga, a man he once swore to oppose to death.
But on Tuesday at his Omoyo home, Ongeri defended his decision saying Odinga’s victory in August is inevitable and that he could not risked being out of a winning team.
“I am seeing a situation where Kenyatta will be humiliated badly. I am not saying that he is a bad person but the fact remains that his regime has failed in a number of issues,” he said.
The former KANU points man added: “I do not want to be in a losing team. You can’t probably convince me that with even these rates of industrial actions, Jubilee will win.”
He will be running for Kisii senatorial job, a seat he narrowly lost to incumbent Chris Obure, who has since joined gubernatorial race.
