In a telephone interview with the Daily Nation on Tuesday, Oloo, who played a pivotal role in the election of President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013 announced that he will formalise his defection to the Opposition on Wednesday.

“I will be making the official announcement on Wednesday at 8:30am at the Public Service Club in Kisumu where I will give details of my move,” he said.

President Kenyatta failed to renew Oloo's contract at the Lake Basin Development Authority last year where he served as chair.

His position in President Kenyatta's camp has since been taken over by former Rarieda MP Raphael Tuju, who sits as Jubilee Party's head of campaign Secretariat.

Oloo's defection to ODM has since been welcomed by the party's acting Secretary General Agnes Zani and director of political affairs Opiyo Wandayi.
