Former US President Barack Obama will jet into the country on July 16 and among high profile US personalities he will land in Nairobi with is celebrated media icon Oprah Winfrey.
Oprah is a household name in the US and her presence in Kenya on July 16 is both political and social. She is among leaders who will accompany Obama to his father's land in K'Ogelo, Siaya County where the former US president's father was born.
They will be launching an NGO.
Oprah according to US media is setting her eyes on the US presidency during the next general election and there are indications that she may vie for the world's superpower's top seat on a Democratic Party ticket, Obama's party.
Her visit to Kenya has been interpreted as a launch pad for her White House bid since Obama ascended to the presidency after making up with his black roots.
Oprah who is visiting Kenya for the first time will also be accompanied by a host of celebrities who are influential in the US.
Some of them including Bruce Springsteen who gave a rousing performance for Obama during his campaigns is said to be among personalities accompanying the former US head of State to Kenya.
Obama will, after the Kenyan visit fly to South Africa where he will deliver a public lecture before jetting back to the US.
