The East African renown paper miller- PanPaper, has been reopened after 10 years in-receivership. However, the Webuye-based firm now bears new brand, Rai Paper Mills.

This is after a private investor, Rai Group of Companies bought the factory at a Sh900 million early in the year.

State House confirmed that PanPaper Mills produced their first paper in 10 years a few days ago. Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu said the reopening of the factory would bring hundreds of jobs back to Webuye town.

During the Thursday launch, Uhuru urged residents to look at the development record of the Jubilee government in light of the paper mill.

"This is just one example of the many projects we have launched and commissioned. The opposition has no development record whatsoever even after spending years in government,'' he said.
