The Party of National Unity (PNU) Leader Peter Munya has suspended its activities in Meru county ahead of President Uhuru Kenyatta's visit to the County on Saturday, the Daily Nation has reported.
Speaking on Thursday at Thiiri Centre, Munya, who is also the Meru Governor noted that President Kenyatta is at liberty to popularise Jubilee Party in the area, adding that he is in full support of Kenyatta's reelection bid in the August polls.
“We have no presidential candidate as a party. We support President Kenyatta for a second term and we welcome him to Meru even on other days to discuss development issues. The President has a right to market his party in Meru,” he said.
Munya further affirmed his commitment to strengthen and to popularise PNU across the country.
“We want to build a party that will last for generations. We don’t want to create new parties every election year,” the governor said.
President Kenyatta has embarked on a nationwide voter registration sensitisation program.
