[Photo: nation.co.ke]In a press briefing at State House in Nairobi on Wednesday, last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta admitted that Kenya was going through a tough time ever since the Supreme Court judgement that overturned his August 8 victory. The President called on Kenyans to seek the ‘face of God’ as the repeat presidential election scheduled for October 26 fast approach. Uhuru then declared Sunday, October 22 as National prayer. Well, Uhuru's call seems to have even reached Pope Francis who on Sunday said he was paying attention to Kenya crisis and prayed that the whole country may deal with the current problem through constructive dialogue towards a common good."I ask you to join my prayer for peace in the world. I am paying close attention in these days to Kenya, which I visited in 2015, and for which I pray, that the whole country might be able to face the current difficulties in a climate of constructive dialogue, having at heart the search for the common good," Pope Francis said to pilgrims and tourists gathered for the Sunday Angelus prayer, as quoted by Nation. The Pope's prayer for Kenya should, however, not come as a surprise because the Pope's eyes seem to be closely monitoring the events happening in Eastern Africa region which has been undergoing the worst political turmoil in years. Recently the Pope also prayed for Somalia after the deadly Mogadishu bomb blast that claimed over 300 lives. Before then the Pope had also prayed for an end to war and persecution in Burundi and South Sudan.
