With opposition leader Raila Odinga already up and about, seemingly aiming at taking the fifth stab at the presidency in the forthcoming race, Moi will be better off in Odinga's camp than in Ruto's.

With the DP engaging Baringo Senator Gideon Moi in an unending supremacy battle for the vast Kalenjin vote in the Rift Valley region, going to an extent of fronting a candidate in at attempt to unseat him in the concluded 2017 poll and therefore downplaying the Moi family's respect in the region, the aging Moi will be out to fix Ruto.

This will be both for revenge and in a bid to weaken Ruto who seems to have a firm grip on the Kalenjin community to facilitate Gideon's placement as the Kalenjin kingpin, a position he held for over 24 years.

With all indications pointing at a possible Odinga-Ruto face-off in the contest, including their renewed clash over the rumored referendum, Odinga will be keen to include Gideon in his team in a bid to bite into Ruto's vote basket and Moi, being a parent, will obviously not support a stranger against his own flesh.

The former head of state is also keen to ensure that his son follows in his steps and becomes the head of state some day, an achievement he can only make in gradual steps and whose biggest threat currently is Ruto who is also keen on remaining at the top for 10 years, after which Gideon might have lost his political relevance.

The most effective remedy for this would be battling Ruto to increase Gideon's chances in the near future.

Ruto should also be weary of the recent meeting between Odinga and the Mois in Kabarak, considering the fact that Odinga and Moi have not been in good terms following Raila's ''Kibaki Tosha'' campaign that saw the end of the former President's 24-year rule.

Though the former Prime Minister's quarters has since termed it as a friendly visit, he should know that nothing happens for no reason in the political arena, especially between sworn enemies.
