Private universities have been targeted after reports emerged that they have denied students admission to their respective institutions.
According to reports, private universities are complaining of low funds and as a result Government – sponsored students have been directly affected.
These universities have reportedly referred the students back to the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
Parents protested at Kabarak University ordering the institution to tell them why the students were denied after being admitted.
28 other cases regarding universities denying Government-sponsored students have been reported.
KUCCPS Chief Executive John Muraguri says there is a problem but it is currently being solved.
“We have communicated with all affected students and asked them to apply for other courses offered by public universities. We will place them once an agreement is reached,” Muraguri said.
Many parents highlighted the sacrifices they have had to make and have demanded that the KUCCPS sort the matter immediately.
