A section of Luo elders is in total disagreement with some of Raila's tactics which includes imposing leaders of his own choice in the region. Something that has always been witnessed during party nominations.

This was apparent when a rebellious faction of the council openly told off the former prime minister to stay away from their affairs. The sharp opposition came after Mr. Odinga decided to endorse one old man as the new elder of the council.

Therefore, it is this endorsement that has since raised temperatures with one faction accusing Mr. Odinga of meddling with the council's affairs. The faction led Mr. Nyandiko Ong'adi has even threatened to move to court in order to seek redress on the matter.

It has never been easy in history for a Luo elder to promise to challenge Raila's decision in court but Ong'adi on Thursday promised to do so.

"We respect Raila Odinga as our political leader, but he should desist from interfering with the leadership of the elders' council," warned Mr. Ong'adi.

The new opposition Raila is facing from the Luo elders has raised eyebrows on his command over the Nyanza Luo elders. Raila has always been idolized across the region and his word has always been treated as the final say by these supporters.

However, it is time the political enigma rethought the magnitude of his command if the opposition he is receiving is anything to go by.
