ODM leader Raila Odinga has endorsed Nairobi governor Evans Kidero's bid for a second term in office.
On Sunday during an ODM rally that was held in Kibera, the former Prime Minister said he was upbeat Kidero would retain his seat.
Kidero who has no opponent for the ODM ticket, is set to get his nomination certificate at an event to be held the Bomas of Kenya on Monday.
“The ODM National Elections Board has cleared Dr Evans Kidero as an unopposed candidate to vie for Nairobi governorship in the August 2017 General Elections,” said NEB chairperson Judith Pareno and secretary Robert Arunga in a statement Sunday.
Kidero will be expected to face off with either Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko or Peter Kenneth of Jubilee Party.
Former Assistant minister Margaret Wanjiru is also eyeing the Jubilee ticket.
The latest opinion polls show Kidero in the lead against his closest rivals Sonko and Kenneth.
