Raila Odinga has been actively participating in the kenyan politics since 1992. He has succeeded in sometimes and failed in another times - a normal trend for anyone else in the political realm.
The seventy three years old ODM party leader has served as a minister in different sectors in the past. Since the death of his father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Raila has climbed up to the top league of the most formidable politicians in the republic.
Raila Odinga has, once, served as the Prime Minister of Kenya. This is a bigger position compared to other positions he has ever occupied. He is well known all over the country and the world at large. Besides, he has got a lot of followers countrywide.
By retiring, Raila will keep his legacy and maintain on his good name as a statesman.Either, the veteran politician has vied four times in the presidential post only to end up unsuccessful. That's in 1997, 2007, 2013 and 2017.
The efforts to snatch the top seat from Jubilee's Uhuru Kenyatta bored no fruits besides combining forces in a coalition in the 2017 general elections. He should, thus, leave the stage of politics to avoid diminishing his big name should he vie and lose for the fifth time.
Raila Odinga's party, ODM, has been supporting only one candidate throughout all these general elections. Raila Odinga has exploited every opportunity to become the all-time flag bearer of ODM. No wonder they have been losing consecutively. Raila should retire from politics to give room for other candidates to vie, maybe they will win if the luck is theirs.
Lastly, by the time of the next elections, Raila will be seventy seven. At this age, when one is approaching eighty, he becomes enervated and in someway, it gets difficult to make sound decisions.
Raila should, therefore, retire from politics to support and candidate of his choice and keep his good legacy as a statesman.
