We have to credit Raila Odinga for keeping the nation in a permanent state of suspense.

No politician in the entire Kenyan history has ever achieved this fete single-handedly for this long.

In the process, Raila Odinga has kept the whole nation guessing as to what his next move is.

No politician has attracted so much hate and so much love in equal measure like the doyen of opposition politics, Raila Amolo Odinga.

Even as the Supreme Court is about to give a verdict on the outcome of the October 26, 2017, poll, which Raila has not challenged, all eyes are on him.

Raila Odinga is a master of political chicanery. In political matters, he is as suave as a fish in familiar waters.

Many times, Raila has confounded friend and foe with the devastating outcome, often leaving them reeling in shock.

When he disputed the 8th August poll, many thought he wanted to run against Uhuru again. Few knew that Raila had other plans.

So, when he announced that he was not going to participate in the October repeat poll, we were all caught wrong-footed.

This sense of mysticism has earned Raila reverence from his ardent followers who believe that he has magical powers.

While in the recent tour in America, there are those who believe that Raila knew that somebody was after his life, prompting him (allegedly) to change schedules and flights.

This also forced him to put on a bullet-proof vest as well.

So, when an unidentified object hit the windscreen of his car, it 'confirmed' the fears of his supporters and affirmed in them that indeed somebody was plotting to bring Raila down.

It is through such acts of maintaining mysticism that Raila has been able to capture the nation's attention for long.

It does not help matters when he moves around with a flywhisk which his supporters claim keeps off evil spirits.

The white handkerchief that he uses to wipe his eyes too is not just a handkerchief!

I hasten to warn here that Raila will still dominate the headlines for the next few years, with or without power.
