We are merely three days to the planned swearing-in of NASA leader Raila Odinga as president.

To opposition supporters who believe that Jubilee must be 'trimmed to size', this will be a great development and must be welcomed.

But what does it mean to the nation and to Raila himself?

First, this could be a precursor to more bloodshed as there is an expected battle between Raila's supporters and the police who will be standing in for the Jubilee government.

Who stands to benefit from bloodshed?

Although it will not be him pulling the trigger, Raila will go into history with the blood of innocent supporters on his hands because he had the power to stop them from dying.

This might look like a far-fetched assumption but truth is, young men are going to be slaughtered by the state machinery and no matter what the masses sing, history will put both Raila and Uhuru's greed on the same side of guilt.

It is not a must that Raila serves as president for his work to be felt.

If he didn't manage to get to State House this time, there is always a next time or a next person.

His legacy should not be over how many days he sat on the presidential pavilion but on the magnitude of changes he brought to the country.

All these, if you ask me, will be lost once his name takes the blame for deaths of good civilians and their counterparts in uniform.
