A ladies group has impressed NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga after going an extra mile in order to raise money to fund his campaigns as he seeks to ascend to power.
The women, dubbed Daughters of Raila, washed cars in Nairobi and other parts of the nation after NASA asked Kenyans to contribute towards the Former Prime Minister Campaign kitty before the October 17 polls.
Raila and his team had called upon Kenyans of goodwill to support him financially following the nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win by the supreme court.
“Haba na haba hujaza kibaba. Ukitoa utakuwa unanunua tiketi ya gari inayoelekea Canaan (little contribution will help. Your contribution will be a ticket for the journey to Canaan),” said Raila during their presser, as quoted by Tuko.co.ke.
The Jubilee side has, however not been happy with Raila’s move to call for a fundraiser. The leaders have criticized Raila, who is taking a fourth stab at the presidency for allegedly attempting to defraud Kenyans.
"Fundraise for someone who will win but don't waste your votes plus any other little money that you have for them," said National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale as quoted by Star.
He added: "They have confirmed to us they are just fleecing their supporters. They are people who joined the race not to win but to fundraise. They use every election to make money.
