As an Ethiopian proverb goes "Give advice to someone, if they don't listen, let adversity teach them."

This wise saying can apply no better than to Cord leader Raila Odinga who has failed to listen to wise advice from all corners and retire honourably from politics.

The elderly statesman instead of embracing this wisdom from his cronies has rather resorted to offering unsolicited advice to the seemingly much organized Jubilee Party.

Raila Odinga continued failure to keep his coalition and party in order has left even some of his supporters calling for his retirement from politics with the likes of Moses Wetangula going ahead to tell him that the huge crowds he attracts in rallies are not votes.

So, with this in mind, why was Raila Odinga quick last week to disapprove the new Jubilee Party set to be launched next month rather than focusing on the several problems facing his ODM party and Cord coalition.

It is is rather simple, Raila is jealous! Yes the Cord leader is jittery about the new political formation by his rivals that may see his presidential ambitions shattered forever.

But why would Raila, such a strong politician, be jealous over a party whose future is not even known? First, a number of renowned analysts have argued that Raila is a very shaken man by the yet to be launched Jubilee Party. The party they say, promises to be a formidable force that will see Raila's confused coalition get confused even more.

The argument by Raila that Jubilee is taking Kenya into KANU days, the said pundits, have termed it as 'weak kicks of a dying horse' while urging him to do the same with his Cord coalition, form one strong party.

Raila not sure whether he can bring his over-ambitious co-principals to agree to this must be making him jittery about the Jubilee Party.

Secondly, it is less than a year to election and Cord doesn't even have a presidential candidate. They cannot agree who among the three co-principals is best fitted to fly the Cord presidential flag and are now contemplating going abroad to seek expert advice on the same.   On the other hand, Jubilee looks organised and determined to stay in power beyond 2032.

This is something that has left Raila with sleepless nights and bitterness that won't just leave him alone. Pollsters is another bunch of 'idiots' that Raila wishes that we would rather not have, at least for now. They seem to have conspired against him with every time giving him bad news.

One time they said his popularity was shrinking, another time they said many Kenyans considered him past expiry date and wanted him to retire and previously they said his party and coalition were performing dismally as compared to rival Jubilee.

What else could make a politician jealous, if no such news?

Raila Odinga is also a desperate man living in desperate times. With his party bleeding profusely and losing key figures with a lightning speed and him being unable to contain it, you can only expect him to be jealous over those coming together to take advantage of his desperate situation.

Finally, his ODM Party is in tatters and and his coalition very confused. You can therefore, expect him to talk like a jilted lover every time he comes out to talk about Jubilee Party.
